Roscoea purpurea

From the family, Zingiberaceae, having common name(s) associated with the genus; Roscoea.

Flowers 3 to 4, in upper leaf-sheaths. Opening one at a time, rosy-lilac, the upper petal narrow, 1 1/8-2 1/4 inches long, the lip 1 1/2-2 1/2 inches long, 2-lobed. Leaves sessile, lanceolate, up to 10 inches long, covering most of the stem. Ht. 10-20 inches.
