Hippeastrum papilio

From the family, Amaryllidaceae, having common name(s) associated with the genus; Amaryllis.

In my opinion, one of the most striking of the species Hippeastrum. Reported to be evergreen and spring blooming, but mine seem to go dormant every summer, having a tendency to bloom in the fall instead of spring. I suspect it will stay evergreen in zones 9-10 and bloom in the spring. Upper petals are mostly maroon and maroon veined with lime green background and lower petals are mostly lime green. This items is only available from the Nursery List in multiple sizes as a potted plant.
