Roscoea auriculata

From the family, Zingiberaceae, having common name(s) associated with the genus; Roscoea.

Flowers enclosed in upper leaf sheath. Opening one at a time, bright purple. The upper petal to 1 3/8 inches long, the lip to 1 3/4 inches. Leaves linear, reaching 10 inches in length, auriculate at base. Ht. 12-20 inches.
