(syn. Lapeirousia cruenta (Lindl.) Bak., Freesia laxa) The wiry flowering stems carry several carmine-crimson flowers, 3/4-1 1/4 inches across, with a tube about 1 1/2 inches long, outer segments with a blackish blotch at the base.
