Liliaceae, having common name(s) associated with the genus; Greig's Tulip.
(Taschkent) Coll. by members of Taschkent B.G. in Central Asia, Western Tien-Shan, in the early 1930s. This is the stock received by J. M. C Hoog, from which he had all offset-forming bulbs selected in the first year of lifting. From a total of 12 selections this form has proved to be the best after 60 years. Flowers brilliant scarlet- to orange-red, measuring up to 6 inches across, when fully open. Tepals to 16 x 4 inch. Inside with black mark at the base of each segment. Pollen yellow. Leaves beautifully mottled and striped purple-brown. It makes vertical stolons when insufficient moisture is available.
