From the family, Iridaceae, having common name(s) associated with the genus; Flag, Sword Lily.

Coll. RM.8276 in Central Asia: Rep. Tadzhikistan, growing in deep clay, often in scrub, 1800 m alt., 1982. One of the finest Juno Irises, very early flowering. Flowers 1 to 3, slate-blue to white, 2-2 3/8 inches diameter. Falls with a deep purple blotch and an orange crest. Best in alpine house. Ht. 2-4 inches.
