From the family, Colchicaceae, having common name(s) associated with the genus; Autumn Crocus, Meadow Saffron.

Raised by Mr. James Backhouse of York. Mr. E. A. Bowles called it: "One of the most beautiful of hardy bulbous plants". Large globular white flowers on soft green perianth tubes. AGM. Ht. 6-8 inches.
