From gardens. Spathe long and slender, to 12 inches, dark silky purple throughout. Spadix less than half the length of spathe. Appendix very dark purple. Leaves hastate, to 12 inches, unspotted, emerging before winter. Tuber horizontal. Likes a good summer-rest. Ht. 16 inches.
