Allium 'His Excellency'

From the family, Alliaceae, having common name(s) associated with the genus; Flowering Garlic, Onion.

Raised by A. Langedijk from an A. macleanii Bak. seedling. Flowers bluish-purple with the emphasis on blue, compared with 'Lucy Ball' being much more pink. Umbels 5 inches across, very dense, sterile. Leaves glossy, remaining green until well after flowering. Ht. 48 inches.
