(syn. S. tubergeniana J. Hoog) Coll. by Herr Georg Egger in NW Iran, the Kara Dagh Range, in the early 1930s, growing among vast quantities of Puschkinia scilloides Adams. A particularly good clone of S. mischtschenkoana Grossh., which generally is not a good garden plant, dying out in cultivation. Excellent for naturalizing under light trees and shrubs in partial shade. Flowers 3 to 4 in a loose raceme, campanulate. Pale porcelain-blue with darker blue stripes down each segment. It occurs in deep brown soil together with Fritillaria latifolia Willd., Rumex alpinus L. and Veratrum album L. A fine alpine plant, totally hardy. It does best in the coldest part of the garden, in cool, moist soil. Flowers large, pale azure-blue with a myosotis-blue central stripe and blue pollen.
