Liliaceae, having common name(s) associated with the genus; Tulip Species.
Triploid form, which has become naturalized in orchards, vineyards and fields in many Mediterranean countries. It increases by means of long stolons and by offsets. Flowers 5 to 3 inches long, bright red. Outer segments larger than inner, which can reach 7 x 1.25 inches. Center jet black, bordered yellow. Exterior with carmine tinge, and with a creamy yellow blotch at the base of each segment. Ht. 8-10 inches.
