This species has been recorded from only one locality in S. E. France, Dept. Savoie, in the Tarantaise Region near Aime. It is now considered to be extinct in nature. Received by V. T. from the Baron Eduard Perrier de la Bathie, who had a small nursery at Albertville, Savoy at the turn of the century and who specialised in the endemic Tulips of Savoy. Now stocks of this species are being grown in Holland. Flowers most distinct, soft primrose yellow, border and base soft rosy-red, turning to an all-over deep rosy-red color with age. Flowers late in May.
