A vigorous form of the 'Queen of Lilies', originally sent from Japan by Dr P.F. von Siebold. Flowers usually 4 to 8, carmine on a purplish-brown stem, fragrant. Position of flowers nodding or horizontal on strong pedicels up to 4 inch long. Segments up to 4 inches long and 1.75 inches broad, edges slightly wavy. Leaves scattered, leathery, broad lanceolate, up to 7 inches long and 2 3/8 inches wide. It dislikes lime. It is more tender than the related L. auratum.
