Iris hoogiana

From the family, Iridaceae, having common name(s) associated with the genus; Flag, Sword Lily.

Coll. by Paul M. Graeber in Central Asia, Tadzhikistan, Pamir Alai Range in 1913. Dedicated by William Dykes to the Hoog brothers, Johannes M. C. Hoog (1865-1950) and Thomas M. Hoog (1873-1948). Flowers 2 or 3 per stem, 3-4 inches in diameter. Soft lavender-blue with yellow beard, fragrant. Leaves erect, tinged purple, to 16 inches long and 3/4 inch wide. Rhizomatous Regelia species, producing long stolons. Ht. 16-24 inches.
