From the family, Liliaceae, having common name(s) associated with the genus; Fritillary.

Coll. MP.8146 in Northern Turkey: Prov. Gümüshane, 2200-2400 m alt., 1.08.1982. This is a miniature with conic, nodding flowers. Deep purple, solitary. Tepals to 3/4 inch. Forms naturally only small bulbs, with bulblets. Ht. 2.5-3.25 inches.
