Crocus (Spring) pestalozzae

From the family, Iridaceae, having common name(s) associated with the genus; Snow Crocus.

Coll. by A. A. in NW Turkey: Prov. Istanbul, on the Anatolian side at approx. 100 m alt. Flowers small, creamy white. Each filament has a small black spot near the base; when the flower is open it looks as if three small specks of soil had fallen into the throat. Ht. 1.25-2.5 inches.
