Colchicaceae, having common name(s) associated with the genus; Autumn Crocus, Meadow Saffron.
(syn. C. bowlesianum B. L. Burtt) From gardens. Good robust cultivar, each corm forming two floral shoots. Large goblet-shaped flowers, the lobes 2-2 3/8 inches long, sweetly fragrant. Number of flowers of up to 12, several flowering at a time. These are beautifully checkered bright mauve, with large white center. Leaves 4 inch wide, a little pleated, erect, 12-18 inches long, appearing in early spring. Ht. 6-8 inches.
