Raised by A. Langedijk from a cross of A. atropurpureum Waldst. et Kit. and A. christophii Trautv. It combines the beauty of both parents: deep purple umbels, larger than in A. atropurpureum, about 4.75 inches across. The flower is like A. christophii, with a silvery-metallic lustre. Foliage linear as in A. atropurpureum, erect, dying down late. Ht. 28-32 inches.
